Rachel, Assistant Director and Ronan, Director

Welcome to EFC Southwest Minneapolis! We are located in the King Field neighborhood at E 39th Street and Stevens Ave., is just three blocks off Nicollet Ave. S. Along with high quality, play-based programming and dedicated and caring teaching staff, the center features a large indoor gym and access to a dynamic local park space. An expansive and engaging nature-based playground invites children to explore natural materials, challenge their bodies with gross motor movement, and enjoy a large space to run and play. Newly remodeled classrooms are filled with natural light, creating a bright and warm space for children to grow and thrive. The center has close access to convenient commuter paths and the nearby energy of the city but is tucked back into the neighborhood, providing a quiet and calm environment.

Meet Our Teaching Staff

My name is Ronan, and I am the Director of the center. I graduated as a Graphic Designer in 2007 and started my journey as a teacher in 2011 in my hometown, Caracas. Later, when I moved to Minnesota, I soon began my career in Early Education, becoming a Teacher and Director of a center. I enjoy playing with my three dogs, watching movies, listening to music, and traveling. I am very excited to be part of the EFC team!

Assistant Director

Hello. My name is Rachel, and I am the assistant director here at Especially for Children in SW Minneapolis. I graduated from St. Catherine University with a BA in Psychology in 2020. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to learn more about child development, challenging behaviors, and children with special needs and have used that knowledge to support the children and staff I work with. I have enjoyed working with children for as long as I can remember, and I am so happy my journey led me to Especially for Children. Before coming to EFC, I worked as a Pre-K teacher, an Assistant Director at Soccer Shots, and a Parent Aware coach. I am excited to bring my experience here! When I am not at work I enjoy hiking with my dog, spending time with family at the cabin, and traveling to football stadiums with my husband.

I want to say thank you to all the wonderful families that have entrusted me with their little ones. I appreciate you all very much.

Hello! I am the infant teacher at Especially for Children. I’ve worked with children since 2020 and have loved it ever since. I am a mother of two beautiful girls. Working with children has not only made me a more patient teacher, but also a better mother!

I am a happy mother of two teenagers and in my free time I enjoy cooking and watching movies with my family.

Hello! My name is Allie. I have 13 years of experience working in early childhood (10 of that being toddlers). I truly believe toddlers are very capable humans and love to see those many “aha” moments throughout the day. I am excited to get to know your children and you! In my free time I love to paint, spend time with friends, and my cat Wednesday!

Preschool Staff

Hello! I have been working with children since 2018. The experience has been magnificent, fabulous, and fantastic! I like spending time with the kiddos, supporting them every day, helping them with their emotions and challenges they might face on any given day. I like to lead my kiddos by example.

Hello! My name is Therese. I am a Pre-K teacher at Especially for Children. I went to college and got my technical diploma in early education. I enjoy helping children grow and learn.

I am an Augsburg alumni, who graduated with a bachelor’s in art! I majored in psychology and minored in sociology. Since 2019, I have used my knowledge to work with preschoolers and their families.
