Welcome to Especially for Children Inver Grove Heights. While here your child will experience care from our nurturing and dedicated teaching staff. We strive to promote growth and development through the Creative Curriculum, encouraging children to explore and discover in a safe and caring play-based learning environment. The children enjoy sign language classes, cooking classes, field trips, and preschool and kindergarten readiness skills.

Meet Our Teaching Staff

Director


Laura

Hi, my name is Laura! I have been with Especially for Children since April of 2023. I began with the company as an assistant director at EFC Edinborough. I began working in early childhood education in 2016! I started in the field as a teacher’s aide, then moved to assistant teacher, lead teacher, assistant director, and now co-director! I have an AA in educational foundations from Inver Hills Community College and a BA in education and leadership with a certification in child advocacy from St. Catherine University. Outside of work, I love exploring hiking trails, reading a good thriller book, and cheering on MN sports teams with family. My husband and I have a dog and 2 cats, and a daughter that we welcomed in September 2025!

 

Infant Staff


Maira

Hello, my name is Maira! I love working with babies and young children, so I decided to study and get my CDA. I have six years experience working with young children and every day that passes, I like my job more. Right now, I am very excited to work with babies and contribute to their growth. Most importantly, I love providing the best care and lots of love!

 


Haley

My name is Haley. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development from Concordia St. Paul in 2022. I’ve been working with children off and on since 2018. On my days off I like to read, make crafts, or hang out with my friends and family.

 


Nancy

My name is Nancy Moua and I work with infants. I’ve been working with children since 2019 and I love what I do. Ever since I was a child, I always loved to babysit my niece and nephew. Working with children had made me realize how much of a difference I make every time I see a child is learning and growing. I also enjoy making art with the children and see all the beautiful art they make. It is so much fun watching these children grow.

 


Oakley

My name is Oakley. I have an associates degree in Early Childhood Education and have been working in childcare since 2013. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, reading, or cheering on the Minnesota Twins!

 

Toddler Staff


Pattie

Hello! My name is Pattie and I have been working with children on and off since 1987. My favorite group to work with is toddlers because they are so interested in learning about and exploring the world around them. Outside of work I like to read and spend time with my family. I have worked with EFC in the past and I am excited to be back!

 


Kerri

My name is Kerri and I am a teacher in the toddler group. I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology and a minor in coaching from the University of Northwestern St. Paul. I also have over 10 years of experience working with children of all age groups, but I have found my passion is working with infants. I love their curiosity and energy and how they absorb everything around them. It is such a privilege to watch them grow and learn, and to know that I was a part of that. When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my husband Eli, our two boys Logan and Liam, and our kittens.

 


Jade

Hi! My name is Jade and I work with the older toddlers.  I graduated for South St. Paul High School and am currently working on earning my CDA.  I have been with EFC since 2021.  I love making a positive impact on children, watching them grow and learn new things every day.  When I’m not in the classroom I enjoy spending time with my nieces and nephew and traveling.

 


Amaya

I have worked with kids since 2021. I am a 2023 graduate from Simley High School and currently attend Inver Grove Community College. Outside of work I like to spend time with friends and family, go to the gym, and get outdoors as much as possible.

 

Preschool/Pre-K Staff

Hi, my name is Laura and I am the 4 year old teacher. I have a CDA in early childhood and began working at EFC in 1994. I have worked in the field for over 30 years. I enjoy working in the 3/4 year-old preschool class because they are always ready to learn new and exciting things each day!

 


Nick

My name is Mr. Nick, and I have been teaching since 2013. I have spent most of my life in Inver Grove Heights. I graduated from South Saint Paul High School in 2010 and went on to attend Dakota County Technical College, where I earned an A.A.S. degree in Early Childhood and Youth Development.

Currently, I work as a float teacher at Especially for Children, where I enjoy introducing new concepts to children and engaging them through play.

In my free time, I love spending time with family, attending concerts and sporting events, watching movies, and playing video games. I am also passionate about Fantasy Football.

Katelynn

Hi! My name is Katelynn, and I graduated from Simley Highschool in 2022. I’m currently majoring in accounting at Inver Hills and plan to earn my bachelors degree. Outside of work, I love to go to the gym, take walks, bake, read, and spend time with friends and family. I’m passionate about working with children and supporting their growth and development.

  • I have been so satisfied with the care my girls have gotten at Especially for Children. Both of my daughters attend; one of them has attended for about two years. She loves it, and would love to show you around her school if you give her a chance. A nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack will be provided to you. Maybe you’ll be lucky and be in one of the groups that does Cooking Class! You will have caring teachers and staff who love what they do and stay to do it every day because of their passion for making sure you are happy, healthy and learning. You will have tons of fun in the winter in the back yard with the snow. You’ll have fun on Sprinkler Days in the summer. You will be challenged. You will have plenty of art projects to give to Mom or Dad to view while they work. You will be blessed with a flexible structure. Your mom and dad will have the ability to see on your Monthly Calendar what you are doing each day and what the theme of the week is. My daughter and I love this, too. From bringing a stuffed animal to school day, to computer class, to Spanish and Sign Language class, you will be learning all kinds of things you can teach your parents! Trips to the apple orchard, pumpkin patch, Nature Preserve, bowling alley and Hilltop Elementary will fill your summer and fall. You will be safe on the transportation provided and will have a blast! You’ll love it here!

  • Our daughter has been going to Especially for Children since she was 12 weeks old. She is now three. It is such an important decision to leave your child in the hands of another person. But, from the first time that we left our daughter in the caring hands of Jeannie, we knew that everything was going to be alright. Since then she has been cared for by many of the wonderful teachers at EFC. We have been happy with the communication and support that we receive from the teachers and directors. We really like the monthly newsletter and events calendar. We have found EFC to have a nice balance of child care along with an educational curriculum that is top-notch. Our daughter is learning new things each day in a safe, clean and friendly environment. We like to refer to it as her “going off to school” as opposed to just “going to daycare.” Our daughter recently started going on field trips and we are confident that she is in very capable hands when leaving the center. One of the unique things that we have found at EFC is the continuity and longevity of its teachers, which we feel translates to the security, trust and familiarity that our daughter feels there. Several of our friends have commented to us that there is a lot of turnover at other centers. This can be difficult for some children to adjust to and we are grateful that this has not been an issue for our family. We would highly recommend Especially for Children, Inver Grove Heights to any parent making this very important decision for their family.
